The CEC Public Works, Roads and Transport Hon. Catherine Kenga and Chief Officer, Special programs and Disaster Management – Irene Opicho paid a visit to the Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, where they had a productive meeting with local nature and environmental conservationists. The conservationists are dedicated to preserving the unique biodiversity of the area, and during the meeting, they requested that the Kilifi County Government undertake mapping and gazetting of the forests in the county. They also discussed their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about environmental conservation in schools and through agricultural clubs.
Hon. Catherine Kenga urged the conservationists to continue their important work and to do more marketing to increase awareness of their cause. She also encouraged them to collaborate with more stakeholders and to set aside a day for tree planting in Magarini sub-county. It was an inspiring meeting, and we remain committed to supporting efforts to protect our environment for future generations.
