Public Works Services

The Kilifi County Department of Public Works is dedicated to enhancing infrastructure and supporting community development through a range of essential services. Our mission is to build, maintain, and improve public facilities and services that enhance the quality of life for residents of Kilifi County. Here’s an overview of the key services we offer:

1. Building and Construction Services
We oversee the construction and maintenance of public buildings and facilities, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. Our services include:

New Construction:

Supervision of new building projects, such as schools, health centers, and community facilities. Recent projects include the construction of classrooms and pit latrines at Habura Pre-primary School and the ongoing construction at Habura Primary School.
Renovation and Repairs:

Upgrading and refurbishing existing buildings to ensure they remain functional and meet current standards. For example, the renovation of the Malindi Fisheries Office as part of the Kenya Marine Fisheries Socio-Economic Development Project.
2. Infrastructure Development
Our infrastructure development projects are designed to support economic growth and improve community access to essential services:

Road Development:

Road Maintenance: Regular upkeep of road surfaces to prevent deterioration and ensure safety, including grading, graveling, and repairing potholes.
4. Project Planning and Management
We are responsible for the planning, execution, and management of various public works projects:

Project Planning:

Development of project plans, including scope, budget, and timeline. This includes managing community sub-projects like those funded under the KEMFSED Phase 1 community projects.
Project Management:

Overseeing the implementation of projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
5. Disaster Management and Emergency Response
Our department plays a critical role in disaster preparedness and response:

Collaborating with other agencies to develop and implement disaster response plans and provide support during emergencies.
6. Community Engagement and Support
We actively engage with the community to understand their needs and address concerns:
