CEC Public Works, Roads and Transport, Hon. Catherine Kenga, and her team; Special programs and Disaster Management – Irene Opicho, Ag. Director for roads, Elvis Dulu have officially launched the opening, grading, and spot murramming of the Magarini-Madzayani road, which spans approximately 11km.
In attendance was MP for Magarini, Hon. Harrison Kombe, MCA Magarini, Hon. Paul Charo and Ward Administrator, Matilda Baya. The community is encouraged to expect a high-quality road from the contractor.
During a meeting at Magarini Primary School, Mzee wa mtaa and other community members shared their challenges, including the need for road maintenance on Gongoni Road, more ECDE classes, and access to fresh water as the current supply is salty. On a positive note, the MP, Hon. Harrison Kombe pledged to sponsor all Form 1 girls who have not yet enrolled in school.
In addition, two tractors are now available to plow farms at an affordable price of only KES.1750. The community is encouraged to adopt water harvesting techniques and diversify their crops to withstand harsh weather conditions, rather than relying solely on maize crops.
