Empowering Kilifi Together: Nurturing Growth, Building Sustainable Futures

Manage Public Works Services

The Kilifi County Department of Roads is dedicated to improving and maintaining the county’s road infrastructure to support economic growth, enhance connectivity, and ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Our comprehensive range of services is designed to address various aspects of road construction, maintenance, and management. Here’s an overview of the key services we provide:

1. Road Construction and Upgrading
We undertake the construction of new roads and the upgrading of existing ones to meet the growing needs of Kilifi County. Our projects include:

Tarmacking and Paving:

We are currently tarmacking the Sala Gate Junction to Madunguni Road in Kakuyuni Ward, a crucial project aimed at improving road quality and boosting socio-economic activities.
Grading and Graveling:

Regular grading and graveling work ensures that roads such as Kadzengo-Mumba Road and Mumba North Coast Medical Training College Road remain accessible and safe.
2. Road Maintenance
Our maintenance services focus on preserving road quality and extending the lifespan of our infrastructure. This includes:

Routine Maintenance:

Regular inspections and repairs to address issues such as potholes and surface deterioration. For example, the Magarini-Madzayani Road is undergoing grading and spot murraming to improve its condition.
Emergency Repairs:

Swift responses to road emergencies, such as the reconstruction of the Masheta Bridge in Chasimba Ward, which was urgently needed after safety concerns were raised.
3. Road Safety and Upgrades
Ensuring road safety is a top priority.

We implement various measures to enhance safety on our roads, including:

Bridge Reconstruction:

The Masheta Bridge project, which is underway, aims to improve safety and facilitate movement for residents.
Traffic Management:

Upgrading road signage and markings to enhance safety and reduce accidents.
4. Public Engagement and Feedback
We value community input and actively seek feedback to improve our services:

Community Meetings:

Regular consultations with residents, such as those held during the Kilifi County Mashinani initiative, where we discuss ongoing projects and gather input on road needs.
Feedback Channels:

Open channels for residents to report road issues and provide suggestions for improvements.
5. Project Planning and Development
We plan and develop road projects based on strategic priorities and community needs:

Project Management:

Comprehensive planning and execution of road projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination. Recent projects include the Kibao cha Goshi to Madunguni Road and Kijiwetanga to Jacaranda Road.
Future Projects:

Upcoming phases of road development, such as the planned Phase 3 and 2 of the Kibao cha Goshi to Madunguni Road, which are scheduled for the 2024-2025 budget.
6. Mechanical and Engineering Services
To support our road infrastructure, we provide mechanical and engineering services:

Fleet Management:

Maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Engineering Support:

Technical support for road construction and maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
7. Transport Infrastructure Development
